Becoming Chieftain of the Rageskull clan is no easy feat. It does not require Strength, Skill, Power or Blood. It does not require a vote from your peers or a council of elders, nor does it require combat prowess. The role of Chieftain is chosen by the highest power of the clan; the Ancestors.
When the Chieftain of the Rageskull meets their end; those that remain gather in their honour; fasting in silence. Sometimes this process can take moments, others days; but when that time comes the fire erupts in a massive blaze of glory; and as the embers of that fire fall they will surround an orc; the embers burning into their skin the brand of leadership. That orc is whom the ancestors have chosen to lead the clan forward.
There have been rare occasions however that the Ancestors have chosen two orcs to lead the clan. Elder's often debated what it meant when two were chosen, but orcish pride tends to get in the way. It has become accepted that the two chosen would fight in an Mak'Rogahn; an honourable duel of will's to see whom is truly worthy of leading the clan.
Another rare occasion, only recorded twice throughout the clan's history as the ancestors chosen a successor before the previous chieftains demise. This was done when the ancestors believed the previous chieftain no longer fit to lead; whether by old age; disease or corruption. Regardless the reason why the successor was chosen he will seek out the current chieftain and fight him in Mak'Gora; a duel to the death. Both times the Successor has won these duels; but not without sustaining scar's for such actions.
A scared tradition started after Rar'Kull; the First Rageskull passed, when the ancestors chose his replacement; Bara'Gora the Iron, he took on the name of his predecessor; becoming Gora Rageskull. Since that day each Chieftain has taken on the name Rageskull as a tribute to the orc who birthed this clan through his fiery rage, passion and unwillingness to die in face of insurmountable odds.
FOR THE RAGESKULL!!!
