It was only 8 weeks after Gam'al's betrayal when he drank the demons blood and turned his back on his clan. Men, Women, Children None were safe from his wrath as his orcs slaughtered all that opposed them; that was all but a handful that survived from the Rageskull Clan. There were only a few capable warriors that remained. Most were either wise elder's or too young to take up arms to defend; and the ancestors had chosen a young Ramzy to give the burden of leading those who remained. But there were those who had doubts about this young orc.
They had spent week's traveling through the Gor'Ground Mountains, traveling slowly to ensure the safety of the young and the old, but as they headed south that was when they had heard the horns of war. The horde was nearby. It was difficult for Ramzy to hold back his pride; he wanted nothing more than to die in a blaze of glory like his ancestors; he had already been denied this honour once. But it is the Chieftains responsibility to make the difficult desicons. They fled east towards the shoreline; but as day turned to dusk they knew that they must find shelter.
Just as nightfall was to hit Embereka noticed a cave in which they could rest for the night as to not draw attention from the hungry predators and horde patrol. "This will do for now" Ramzy said as Embereka nodded. "I'll take first watch Chieftain, go rest and spend time with Mar'rha." Embereka was a proud Rageskull, many of the elder's believed she would be the one to lead the clan forward. But she gladly accepted her role as advisor. She grabbed her axe and donned wolf's hide to keep herself warm as she kept watch.
Mar'rha had just learned how to walk, running really. For a moment he forgot about all that had happened, the friends and family he lost. He watched Mar'rha run right over to little Agiskka. She smiled as she took Mar'rha's hand and brought her back to her father. "Chieftain..." she asked "Where are we going?"
Ramzy wasn't prepared for that, quite frankly he didn't know himself. He looked at the young shaman, and said "Perhaps you can tell me Agi. Did Taraka ever teach you to speak to the elements?" Agiskka nodded "Ask them to aid us and guide us and we will find our way." She grinned and sat down next to Ramzy focusing hard to talk to the elements. Meanwhile Ramzy was finally starting to get some sleep.
It was short lived however as he heard the sound of a blade being drawn and he could hear Embereka ask someone "Who are you and why shouldn't I slice your throat?" Ramzy jumped to his feet, grabbed his maul and headed towards the entrance of the cave to see the Warrior have her axe at the throat of an old man. His skin was beginning to grey, and signs of old age were clearly slowing the orc down. Ramzy motioned for Embereka to lower her blade. He looked around the ground, firewood, berries, and fish were amongst the supplies the old man had returned with. The trio stepped inside and the old man showed his mastery of the elements by moving a bolder in front of the entrance, and with a snap of his fingers fire lit the inside of the cave. "I see you have found my home" he said before letting out a hacking cough. Embereka helped him sit down "Works every time" he winked at her, his hand in a peculiar spot. Embereka was quick to remove it from their however.
"Who are you?" Ramzy asked, quiet enough to not to disturb those sleeping.
"Mok'Rell" The old man replied; "But most just call me old man, or elder. Or they used to. Don't get many visitors these days. Now who are you? And why have you invade my home?"
"I am Ramzy, Chieftain of the Rageskull; and we sought shelter from the night and protection from the predators and the horde that roam these parts. We had thought this cave was empty."
Mok'Rell glanced further inside the cave, though his eyesight is not what it once was he could see there were many old and young orcs. "Please feel free to take as much time as you need. You must be tired from your travels. The horde will not find you here; and I have enough supplies to sustain your clan for the night."
Ramzy was shocked "Such generosity Mok'Rell, you honour us. But we will only be staying the night, we continue our travels south tomorrow"
Mok'Rell nodded, using his staff as a walking stick to help himself up. He hobbled over to a wall a hidden chamber within the rock and pulled out a pair of bracers. They were hot to the touch. "I am far to old these days to fight young Ramzy, but perhaps these will help you in your travels. These once belonged to a powerful spirit of fire, and while he is long since gone, these bracers still possess much power. Put them on and you will be able to resist the flames and they will bend to you."
Ramzy was speechless. He put his weapon down and graciously accepted the gift Mok'Rell had presented him. "I am humbled Elder Shaman, and not worthy of such gifts."
Mok'Rell laughed and winked at Embereka. "It would be my honour. This world is dying Ramzy; let this be a blessing from the elements to you. But such gifts have a cost. It will burn to your flesh and you will never be able to remove them." He watched Ramzy nod, and Mok'Rell applied the bracers to the Rageskull Chieftain. It burned right into his very flesh and up both arms, leaving dark scars.
"There must be some way to repay you Mok'Rell?" Ramzy asked.
The old man thought about it for a moment "How about an hour with this one?" he said staring at Embereka, but she quickly shot him down. "Oh fine. It could have been magical darling, trust me...But I suppose I could use so more supplies. Fish, lumber, and herbs."
"At dawn tomorrow I will take a few out to gather supplies Mok'Rell." Ramzy said. The old man smiled; and Embereka kept her eyes on him to ensure he didn't try to get another grab in.
As the sun rose Mok'Rell used his magic to remove the bolder and Ramzy gathered a few of orcs and they headed out to do as they promised. After 2 or so hours they returned to the cave to see the bolder placed back in front. The sound of children screaming however muffled pierced through the stone. Fearing the Horde Ramzy and the orcs grabbed their weapons and began smashing through the rock.
Seconds felt like lifetimes before they finally broke through, the fires that once lit the cave were out but only eerie red eyes penetrated the darkness. one of the orcs lit a torch to reveal a horrifying scene. 2 of the elder's and one child had been left nothing more than lifeless husks. Corpses. And their stood the old man, his skin the same sickly green color as Gam'al. Ramzy gripped his maul tight "You Bastard, What foul magic is this?" he yelled.
Mok'Rell smiled; his rotten tusks looked diseased "Their souls belong to me now Chieftain of the Rageskull, and soon...So will yours!" he raised his hand and clenched it and within moments the bracers Ramzy put on the night before burned, but this was different, he burned right to his very soul, the pain so overwhelming it dropped him to his knees.
Embereka had seen enough and charged at the old man, but as she sliced through him, he vanished; a mirror image. "Soon Rageskull's your souls will belong to the master and I will be granted unlimited POWER!" he cried out, cackling as he began using his fel magic to open what appeared to be portals; and demons began to flood out. "Defeat them" he commanded. as the legion of demons fought those few who could fight amongst the rageskull.
Ramzy had fought through the pain, his anger grew and soon he could feel that same urge flow through him like that night he fought Gam'al. He cleaved his way through the demons, charging towards Mok'Rell as he prepared to drain the souls from the children. But as he approached Mok'Rell let forth a powerful blast of fel fire that struck Ramzy in the face. As it knocked Ramzy to the ground he stood over the fallen Chieftain "You may have the heart of a Rageskull, but you die just the same Chieftain."
Mok'Rell had prepared to deliver the final blow when a scream echoed through the cave, and as Mok'Rell turned to see what had happened Agiskka had summoned a massive air elemental, its winds powerful enough to change the tides of battle. The Old Man did his best to maintain his ground, but he was unable to cast spells at the elemental as it knocked him into one of the open portals. The sound of Mok'Rell screaming and yelling followed by some powerful voice speaking an unknown language could be heard.
Shortly after the other portals closed, and the demons were slain. Ramzy stood there; his hands shaking from the burns and the rage he felt. He turned to his left and seen Agiskka standing in front of his daughter Mar'rha. She looked up to him and said "How did I do?"
Ramzy kneeled down looked her straight in the eyes and said "Your mother would be proud Agiskka, she taught you all she knew, and you will learn so much more."
Blessings were placed upon the corpses of those Mok'Rell had drained before they were cremated so their spirits could find peaces with the ancestors. Ramzy would grip his wrists, he could resist fire, but these bracers carried a curse...That would be something to worry about another day.
